Immunity-inflammation

Nutritional Modulation of Immunity and Inflammation

Speakers:

Simin N. Meydani, DVM, PhD

Event date: 10 April 2024

Normal immune and inflammatory responses are influenced by several factors, including aging and nutrition. The relationship between nutrition and the immune system is complex, and an optimal level of nutrients is needed for optimal immune system function. Both under- and over-nutrition (i.e., obesity) can result in impaired cell-mediated immunity and increased inflammation.

This session looks at the role of nutrition and aging in regulating immune function and inflammatory responses. A brief overview of the effects of specific nutrients on inflammation and immunity is provided.
