Did you know that early signs of common health issues in cats can show up as changes in elimination behavior? The litter box can serve as a crucial indicator of cat health and well-being. This is why a smart litter box monitors using artificial intelligence have been developed. These monitors can detect subtle yet significant changes in cats’ elimination behaviors, including schedule, frequency, and waste type. They also can track changes in body weight. Such variations may signal health conditions that require veterinary evaluation and could easily be missed by cat owners. In this session, Drs. McGowan, Quimby, and Saffire discuss the development and practical applications of smart litter box monitors for tracking various feline lower urinary tract diseases, chronic kidney disease, and constipation associated with chronic kidney disease.
