Severe Dysbiosis and Chronic Non-responsive Diarrhea – Could It Be Bile Acid Diarrhea?

The dysbiosis index can be used to assess the fecal microbiota and extent of intestinal dysbiosis, if present. In this lecture, Dr. Linda Torreson discusses how to interpret the dysbiosis index results of dogs with chronic enteropathies and how those results can be used to influence treatment in clinical practice.  

The role of bile acids in gastrointestinal health and disease, plus the concept of bile acid diarrhea in dogs, are also key topics of the presentation, including:  

  • When clinicians should suspect bile acid diarrhea (BAD) in their canine patients with severe chronic enteropathies 

  • What veterinarians should know about the mechanisms behind BAD
